Our managing director ing. Johan de Vries MSc can tell you what we can do for you.
The retail market is in a constant state of flux as consumers’ changing buying behaviour puts pressure on shops, retail chains, and shopping centres to keep up. Also, from a property perspective, changes are needed to stay ahead of the curve. BOAG helps investors, owners, and building managers navigate these transition processes.
E-commerce is booming and will over the coming years only keep growing rather than recede. Alongside online shops, brick-and-mortar shops will continue to exist. Especially stores that revolve around a special customer experience have a future, i.e. stores where people can try and feel products, such as in the food sector, or where products represent an experience message. Retailers are responding to this with concepts that involve food, experience, and meeting people.
Brick-and-mortar shopping is a twofold concept, consisting either in ‘grocery shopping’ or in ‘fun shopping’. For the former, efficiency comes first. Consumers want to get all the items on their shopping list quickly. Speed is not a factor in ‘fun shopping’, as this is all about the atmosphere, social aspect, and experience. Ideally, there should be a balance between these mutually complementary market segments. BOAG has the ready knowledge and experience needed to give shopping centres a new lease of life.
Knowledge of the retail market from the perspective of both the investor or project developer and that of the retailer, lessee, or user is a precondition for a successful refurbishment or redevelopment project. BOAG’s retail specialists will join the thought process of all parties involved to come up with ways to make a shopping centre sustainable and identify the most appropriate scenario for the specific location. The earlier we get involved, the smoother the transition process will be.
BOAG’s strength lies in managing processes, both during the preparatory and contracting stage and during implementation. We will make sure that the most suitable parties come to the table, that clear agreements are made with them, and that they do what they have contractually agreed to do. Right from the inception of the initial idea, we will be on hand to give advice on design, procurement, feasibility, subsidies, sustainability, construction costs, and construction logistics. Through effective process and project management, as well as continuous quality assurance and supervision of implementation work, we will ensure a smooth refurbishment project for everyone, with minimum inconvenience.
You will find a list below of the areas in which BOAG operates, including brief details of what you can expect from us in each of these markets.
